Privacy Policy

SmartChoice Compare is an independent product comparison site. We are not Amazon, we are not a manufacturer or a retailer, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the brands we cover. This policy covers this website only.

What you send us. The contact form asks for your name, your email address and your message. We use it to reply to you and to keep a record of the request.

What is collected automatically. When you open a page, our hosting and analytics record basic technical information: the page you viewed, the page you arrived from, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser type, and simple events such as which category you opened. We use this to understand which comparisons are useful and to keep the site working.

There are no accounts on this site, no payments are taken here, and we never ask for sensitive information.

We use a small number of first-party cookies or local storage entries so the site functions and so visits can be counted. They are not used to build an advertising profile of you, and this site runs no third-party advertising networks.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time. The site still works without them.

Our buttons lead to Amazon. Once you click, you are on Amazon's site and no longer on ours. Amazon and its partners may receive your IP address and the page you arrived from, and may set their own cookies, including to attribute the visit to us. Amazon's own privacy notice governs what happens after that.

We earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through those links. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not add anyone to a mailing list. We do not collect information about what you buy.

Contact messages are kept while we deal with them and for a period afterwards, so we have a record of corrections and requests. Analytics is kept in aggregate form. If you ask us to delete a message you sent, we will.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the contact form and tell us what you would like.

If you live in the UK, the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to and receive a copy of your personal data. If you are a California resident, you can ask what we collect, ask us to delete it, and ask us not to share it. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law.

This site is written for adults making a purchase decision. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us something, contact us and we will delete it.

We use reasonable technical measures to protect what we hold. No website is perfectly secure, so please send only what you are comfortable putting into a form.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version.

Questions about this policy, or a request about your information? Send it through the contact form and we will reply.
